Description

The City of Hillsboro (“City”) seeks information and product specifications for a Soda Ash Processing Unit at the Cherry Grove Soda Ash Building, located on Lee Falls Road in Gaston, Oregon.  The City will use this information to establish a list of equipment brands and makes to include in a future specification. The City may select one brand/make/model, or multiple, based on the results of this RFI and other research. Once this list is established we will issue a Brand Name Specification with the selected brand/make/model(s), complete the specifications and drawings and issue an Invitation to Bid to select a contractor to provide the unit and related equipment, as well as construction and  installation services.  The benefits of the new unit will be: 1) to reduce lifting and climbing hazards and 2) to increase the accuracy of Soda Ash feed rates. Other improvements include upsizing the tank from 500 gallon to 1000 gallons, and adding a hopper and screw feeder for soda ash. Currently 50lb bags of Soda Ash are manually lifted from pallet up three stair steps to top of Soda Ash mixing tank. The new hopper will be located at floor level and a new auger will transport the Soda Ash to the tank.
