Description

The City of Hillsboro (“City”) seeks locating services for its underground fiber optic cables.  The scope may be expanded to include other City locating needs.  References to fiber optic utilities apply to underground utilities as a whole.  Locates for stormwater and sanitary sewer, if required will require additional specifications.   The City has been installing fiber optic cable to serve government functions for over 15 years.  Recently, the City partnered with the Hillsboro School District to install a shared fiber optic backbone that will serve both the School District and the City.  This new backbone will add approximately 66 miles of underground fiber in and around the City. The City also started building a new fiber to the premise (FTTP) internet service to provide broadband connectivity throughout the city.  This utility will add hundreds of miles of underground and aerial fiber cable to the network as it is built over the next 10 years. It is critical that this infrastructure be properly protected from damage so we are seeking a highly qualified, professional organization to partner with us to ensure that the fiber optic assets are property located any time construction is happening near our installed cable infrastructure.
