Description

The City seeks to commission a meaningful memorialization of this sacred historic site that reflects the African American experience in 19th century Philadelphia and its role in our nation's history; one that reveals its vital story and that honors and celebrates the thousands of African Americans laid to rest there. Additional components of the scope of work are: the re-sizing of the existing full-size tennis court, which currently extends over the burying ground footprint, to a new youth tennis court to eliminate the encroachment on the footprint; the removal of the recreation center building by hand; and any alterations to the site necessitated by the memorial and youth tennis court. The following five semi-finalist were pre-selected via an RFQ process and have been approved to apply for this opportunity. The semi-finalists are, in alphabetical order by last name: 1. Muhsana Ali 2. Shawn Theodore Jackson 3. Juan Logan 4. Karyn Olivier 5. Sara Zewde
