Description

The Philadelphia Water Department ("PWD" or the "Department") is seeking proposals from qualified applicants to facilitate and expand a comprehensive watershed protection partnership program. This initiative supports compliance mandates under the 1987 amendments to the Clean Water Act, the 1996 amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Department's Source Water Protection Plans. The Department defines a comprehensive program as one that considers source water protection from a watershed-wide scale. This perspective includes a proactive approach toward major water users, such as drinking and wastewater utilities; a dynamic public education program that connects with multiple audiences; and scientific research to more thoroughly understand the connection between healthy aquatic ecosystems and good water quality.
