Description

The Shepard Recreation Center is located at 5700 Haverford Avenue.  The site includes: a playground (separate age-appropriate areas with equipment), a spray pool, an in-ground pool, baseball field, basketball courts and a roller skating rink  with surrounding walking path and adult fitness equipment (approximately 5 years old). There are three buildings on the site: the recreation building (11,000 sf), the pool building (open-air roofed structure) (7,000 sf) and an open-air pavilion (2,000 sf). The principal and preliminary assignment of the Project User’s Team is to perform a comparative cost-benefit analysis of the options to renovate the existing structures (particularly the main Rec building) or to demolish and replace with new construction. The maximum project grant is $12,000,000.
