Description

Jerome Brown Playground is located at 1927-41 West Ontario Street. The triangular site is bound by North 20th Street to the west, West Ontario Street to the south, and a SEPTA rail line to the east. The site includes a playground, basketball courts and a spray-pole.  An additional parcel located along 20th between West Tioga and West Estaugh Streets has been identified as being a potential candidate for a new facility for this site.  A portion of this additional parcel is currently used by a neighborhood community gardening group.  The single-story brick masonry building is slab on grade and contains a single open multi-purpose room with storage.  The base scope of work for this site includes the renovation of the existing site and recreation building. The scope may additionally include (but is not limited to): concept design and cost benefit analysis to provide a new building (6,000) SF on an adjacent parcel; concept design and cost benefit analysis to provide an addition (size TBD) to the existing recreation building; design of connection and access points between the existing recreation center site and building and proposed adjacent site.  The building is approximately 1,600 SF and the existing rec center parcel is approximately 0.92 acres.  The additional adjacent parcel is approximately 0.6 acres. The baseball field associated with Jerome Brown Playground, located along 20th Street between Tioga Street and West Atlantic Street, is not included in the scope of work for this site. Please see the full site information packet here.
